Mundra Port Introduces Double Stack Lock Charges to Cover Operational Costs

Mundra Port, India's largest commercial port and a flagship of Adani Ports and Special Economic Port Ltd (APSEZ), will impose double stack lock charges of Rs500 per double stacked wagon, effective from February 1st. The move comes as Mundra Port is connected to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, allowing for the operation of double stack container trains, which enhances container evacuation speed and overall efficiency. APSEZ cited significant manpower costs associated with handling twist locks on double stack container trains and decided to introduce this nominal fee to cover these operational expenses.

This fee amounts to Rs45,000 per double stacked train rake, both for inward and outward operations. APSEZ clarified that these charges are implemented to cover the specific operational costs related to double stack handling, ensuring the continuation of high-quality services at the port.
