India Opens Doors for Yellow Pea Imports with Immediate Effect, Eases Restrictions

India has allowed the import of yellow peas with immediate effect for all consignments where the bill of lading is issued on or before April 30, 2024, according to a notification by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The import of yellow peas will not be subject to Minimum Import Price (MIP) and port restriction conditions but will require registration under the import monitoring system. During April-December of the current fiscal year, India's import of yellow peas totaled $5.43 million, compared to $0.14 million in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
