Fresh Fruit Giant Unifrutti Acquires Leading South American Exporter Verfrut

Unifrutti, a prominent global fresh fruit producer and distributor, has announced the acquisition of 100% of Sociedad Exportadora Verfrut SA ("Verfrut"), a leading producer and exporter in South America. Founded in 1996, Verfrut is a major player in the fresh produce sector in Chile and Peru, managing over 7,500 hectares of agricultural crops and integrated processing centers. The company cultivates a diverse range of products, including grapes, cherries, apples, and blueberries, and is recognized as Peru's largest grape exporter. With a robust sales and distribution network in the US, EU, South America, and China, Verfrut aligns strategically with Unifrutti's goal of creating a leading global platform for the commercialization of integrated and sustainable fruit.

This acquisition positions Unifrutti as one of the most significant fruit companies in Chile, particularly in grape and cherry production, and strengthens its presence in the apple sector in the Southern Hemisphere. Additionally, it extends Unifrutti's reach into Peru, a crucial hub in the fresh produce sector. The move is aligned with Unifrutti's commitment to meeting the growing global demand for high-quality fruit and promoting sustainable agriculture. Completion of the acquisition is subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Following completion, Unifrutti plans to maintain Verfrut's global operations to ensure business continuity. Mohamed Elsarky, CEO of the Unifrutti Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition, highlighting its potential for future growth and innovation.
