Maersk Launches Weekly Chennai Service Connecting Indian Subcontinent, Sri Lanka, and Europe

Maersk, the Danish shipping company, is strategically addressing challenges in the Red Sea and the Suez Canal by enhancing its focus on the Indian sub-continent and the Middle East. To bolster its services, Maersk is set to launch a weekly Chennai service and a new Arabian Sea service. The weekly Chennai service, beginning February 5, will operate a rotation from Salalah, Oman to Colombo, Sri Lanka, Ennore, India, and back to Salalah, Oman. In Colombo, Maersk will connect to Europe through its AE7 service and to the Far East via its AE55 service, facilitating connections to North Europe through West Mediterranean hubs. 

The new Arabian Sea Service, commencing on February 9 with the GSL Kalliopi departing from Salalah, will have a rotation covering Salalah, Oman - Jebel Ali, UAE - Port Qasim, Pakistan – Pipavav, India - Nhava Sheva, India – Salalah, Oman.

In response to ongoing challenges in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, Maersk is actively working to maintain capacity and enhance reliability in supply chains. The company is also introducing new weekly services that connect the Mediterranean and Red Sea. 

The Gulf Service, beginning February 5, will serve Salalah, Oman - Jebel Ali, UAE – Doha, Qatar – Damma, Saudi Arabia - Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia - Jebel Ali, UAE – Abu Dhabi, UAE - Duqm, Oman – Salalah, Oman.
