In Wanaparthy district, rice millers are increasing their operations to supply rice to the Food Corporation following directives from the district administration. The district has seen increased vigilance, with a special team inspecting five rice mills booked for irregularities. Some of these mills have not provided rice despite receiving paddy in 2021.
District Collector Tejas Nanda Lal Pawar responded to the negligence by transferring the District Civil Supplies Officer and holding meetings with the Rice Millers Association. He warned of potential action under the Revenue Recovery Act if the supply targets were not met by February 29.
The inspections were ordered by Commissioner of State Civil Supplies and are being conducted by a special team led by Chief Vigilance Officer Colonel Prakash. Last month, civil supplies department officials filed cases against several entities, including a trader in Miraspalli village, Meenakshi Food Production in Muhammadapur, Kedarnath Rice Mill in Wanaparthy town, and two mills in Pangal mandal. They discovered discrepancies in the quantity of rice supplied to the Central Food Corporation, with around 2,25,179 sacks of paddy found to be short. Following legal actions by millers against government measures, the Civil Supplies Commissioner assigned a special team headed by Chief Vigilance Officer Prakash to assess the situation at the mills.
