Indian Government Boosts Natural Rubber Sector Funding by 23%, Targets Traditional and Non-Traditional Areas for Expansion

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has increased the total outlay for the natural rubber sector to Rs 708.69 crore, which is a 23% rise from previous funding under the ‘Sustainable & Inclusive Development of Natural Rubber Sector’ programme. The plan includes enhanced support for rubber planting in both traditional and non-traditional areas for 2024-25 and 2025-26. In traditional areas, rubber planting will be undertaken across 12,000 hectares with an allocation of Rs 43.50 crore. The rate of assistance for this has been increased to Rs 40,000 per hectare, up from the previous Rs 25,000 per hectare. In non-traditional regions, 3752 hectares will be brought under rubber cultivation, with an outlay of Rs 18.76 crore during the same period.
