Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited (AKPL) has issued a statement, assuring that container operations at Krishnapatnam Port will persist despite protests led by the Telugu Desam Party and Former Minister Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy against the proposed suspension of container operations. AKPL emphasized Krishnapatnam's significance, stating that they are actively focusing on strengthening its operations, with existing infrastructure such as berths, yard, and equipment fully intact. The port is capable of handling any container vessel, and the statement highlighted their commitment to the development and growth of Andhra Pradesh.
AKPL operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, regularly contributing revenue share to the government, which has been increasing due to the annual growth in cargo volume. The clarification aims to address concerns and reinforce their dedication to supporting the overall growth of the region. In response, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy announced plans for an all-party delegation to visit Krishnapatnam port to assess the situation regarding the continuation of container operations.
