Tomato Exports from Türkiye Surge by 42.8% in 2023, Reaching $538.7 Million

 



In 2023, Türkiye experienced a substantial surge in tomato exports, recording a 42.8% increase, reaching $538.7 million. The data, compiled by Anadolu Agency, revealed that the country exported 588,418 tons of tomatoes to 52 countries, including Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K., Spain, Denmark, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Qatar. Romania led as the top destination with $91.98 million, followed by Ukraine, Poland, and Germany. Greenhouse Investors and Producers Association President Halil Pekdemir expressed satisfaction with the growth, attributing it to increased market expansion and government support for greenhouse projects. Pekdemir conveyed aspirations for Türkiye to become a leading force in European greenhouse production, aiming to enhance market share and contribute significantly to the country's economy in 2024.
